The SEQ Regional Plan -

Prophetic, Semantic or Romantic?

Thursday 2 December 2004

EIANZ-SEQ hosted half day forum on the State Government’s introduction of the Draft Regional Plan in October. Regional Planning has been a feature of SEQ planning for 15 years and is seen as critical for preserving SEQ’s quality of life in the face of significant projected urban growth.  The Office of Urban Management was established in 2003 to take over the regional planning role and is applying a fundamentally different approach, including greater levels of State government involvement in local government planning.  The vision is for the integration of State and Local Government planning and infrastructure delivery, with the Office of Urban Management having a critical role in coordinating State Government departments.
