The changes will not only impact on new development approvals but companies conducting an ERA under an existing authority. Rebecca holds an honours degree in law and arts and has extensive experience in planning, environment, heritage, native title and local government laws. She has acted in several planning appeals and has lectured in environmental and planning law. Elisa Nichols, Principal Project Officer - Environmental Protection Agency Elisa discussed what instigated the changes and the thinking behind them along with any changes to the EPA's role as the regulatory agency resulting from the changes. David Stevenson, Manager Business Services – Australian Industry Group The potential Impact the changes will have on Industry David will discuss how the legislative changes have the potential to impact on industry. This will include a review of how the changes have already impacted on some of the AIG members. David will also briefly discuss the content of the current draft Codes of Compliance for ERA’s 20, 23, 28 and 83. The initiatives being taken by AIG to assist members during the transition period will also be presented. David has been with the Australian Industry Group for nearly two years. As business services manager, David is responsible for looking after environmental issues that will impact on industry. One of the key aspects of his role at AIG is to work with government to help mitigate the impact legislative changes will have on businesses. This includes, when necessary, lobbying government including the environmental protection agency, on the need for legislative or policy reform. David is also on the Australian Industry Groups National Policy Committee. |
