Down to Earth
Erosion and Sediment Management Conference
6-8 September 2005
Cairns Convention Centre, Cairns
The Environmental Protection
Agency, in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources and Mines,
Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, The Environment Institute of
Australia and New Zealand, and the International Erosion Control Association, is
hosting a three day conference aimed at fostering robust discussion about
current problems and issues associated with erosion and sediment management.
The conference will
discuss
best practice erosion management in a range of industries such as development,
construction, building, agriculture and mining sectors
The purpose of the conference and
workshop is to:
Explore the
environmental impacts associated with erosion and sediment discharge;
Build awareness and
promote competency among the construction, building, agriculture and mining
sectors;
Highlight best
practice erosion and sediment management techniques for
the different industry and
land management sectors;
Debate how best to
raise the benchmark in erosion and sediment management practices with policy
makers and regulators, including incentives and regulatory requirements.
The conference will also discuss the
current regulatory requirements and will debate a range of policy options,
including incentives and regulatory tools, that will lead to change for better
erosion and sediment management.
All
industries and governments agree - we need to improve now! But how?
Presentations now available.
Purchase the conference presentation CD for
$49 (inc gst and postage). The CD includes presentations (listed
below) in PDF format, the conference handbook with session synopsis and speaker
